Sitka is located in Southeast Alaska
on the West Side of Baranof Island. It is one of the most scenic areas in
Alaska. Jagged snow covered peaks, mountains plunging into the mighty
North Pacific, peaceful forested tidal passes. You'll fish amidst a
salt water wilderness where you will see bald eagles, whales, sea lions,
sea otters, an array of sea birds, dear and the occasional killer whale
and grizzly bear.
Sitka is a historic town, of about 8,000 people, rich in Russian and Tlingit Native history. There are several historic sites to visit in town where you can experience this varied culture. Some must see sights are The Russian Bishop's House, St. Michael's Cathedral, Museums, Castle Hill and Totem Park. The Alaska Raptor Center is also a great place to visit. This rehabilitation center for injured birds of prey from all over the West Coast. Most of those injured are bald eagles; however, there are other birds of prey on site as well. Sitka offers all the amenities a person would need, a quaint charm to make you feel at home in these pristine surroundings and unbeatable fishing that will bring you back year after year.
